What do you need to host a webinar?
Mic & headphones
Good: from computer
Better: Headphone Mic
Best: USB Mic + Headphones.
Don’t be held back by your gear. A computer’s mic works great. Airpods work great.
But sometimes you want that extra je ne sais quoi.
Computer
although you can host a webinar on an ipad in a pinch, a computer / laptop with an external monitor is the best way to host a webinar, especially if you are using a deck.
Something to say
More on this in the content section.
A Goal
Do you not have an email list and need more leads?
Do you have a list but want to bring awareness to a new product?
This will inform what you say in your webinar.
More on this in the goals section
Camera
Built-in cameras work very well, so long as they are positioned correctly.
Apple’s Ventura + iPhone running iOS 16 allow you to use your iphone camera as a camera.
Logitech Cameras are also great. To avoid a “arched” camera look, shoot for cameras with a 78 or 90 Field of View (FOV) using 4k.
Hosting Software
Good: Zoom
Better: Streamyard
Best: BrightTALK, On24, GoToWebinar, etc.
Basic software will get you hosting a webinar and nothing else. There is a cost to this, and you get what you pay for.
A speaker (host):
If you are doing it on your own, you don’t need to find a speaker, but you will need to practice your presentation.
Here is the section on being a great moderator or presenter.
If you are finding a moderator, or need to find other people to present on your own webinar, go to the section on finding speakers.
This is often overlooked.
A well-lit room
Make sure the main light source is coming from in front of you.
